Ambleside Christmas Lights - Saturday 17th November 2012

Every year on the third Saturday in November at dusk the residents of Ambleside parade through the closed streets carrying with them paper lanterns. The Christmas lights are then switched on by Santa Claus himself, and there is a large fireworks display at Rothay Park. The whole day has a very magical feel to it and really gets you in the Christmas spirit.

The timetable of events for this year include:

Skating Rink and BBQ in the school playground at Vicarage Road 10-6pm (subject to weather etc)

Christmas Fair in aid of Cancer Care at Kelsick Centre, St. Mary’s Lane 10-12pm

At mid day at the market place in the town centre charity stalls will open and there will be street entertainers

Lakeland Steamers throughout the day at Waterhead (approx one mile from centre of Ambleside) , including 2pm steamer that leaves in search of Santa, 3:30 steamer returns with Santa on board

Santa begins sleigh ride from Waterhead to Ambleside approx 4pm

Lantern procession departs from Gables Hotel at 4:15 and makes its way through the centre of Ambleside, finishing at around 5:00pm

Fireworks display at Rothay Park 5:15 to 5:45 pm
