The 13th Keswick Film Festival will take place over the weekend of 23rd to 26th February.

Over the weekend there will be 30 UK and International films, UK premieres, and previews. Films are screened at The Alambra cinema and Theatre on the Lake both in Keswick, and also at Reghed. The festival splits films into various themes:

Ulverston Dickensian Christmas Festival

Ulverston’s Dickensian style two day festival attracts thousands of people each year. The Christmas festival is in its 13th year, and this year the festival takes place on the weekend of 26th and 27th November.

It is one of the most popular Dickensian style festivals in the country and gives locals and visitors the chance to experience the atmosphere of how life would be in a traditional market town in the 1850s. The Dickensian Festival is organised by a local committee of volunteers on a non-profit basis, relying on fund raising, sponsorships, grants and donations from local businesses. There is a real great community spirit with the local shop keepers getting into the spirit of the festival and wearing traditional period clothing. With Ulverston’s cobbled streets and ginnels, old worldy pubs and unique speciality shops, it only adds to the feeling of stepping back in time.

Kendal Mountain Festival

October Beer Festivals

2011 marks the 18th Westmorland Beer Festival, which is organised and run on a voluntary basis by CAMRA members. The event not only helps raise funds for CAMRA to campaign on a local and national level, but also much needed funds for charities, which this year is the Cumbria Wildlife Trust.

CAMRA campaigns for real ale, real pubs, and consumer rights. With over 125,000 members it has been described as the most successful consumer group in Europe.
