Grizedale Forest in the heart of the lake district has so much to offer people of all ages and abilities, so I thought it would be easier to list it into various catogories:

Obviously you are spoil for places to walk pretty much anywhere in the Lake District, but one huge advantage of the numerous routes throughout Grizedale Forest are the fact they are clearly marked by coloured posts so no need for map reading and reducing the chance of getting lost. Also the routes take you to the best parts of the forest and some stunning view points. There are routes from a mile long, to all day more strenuous hikes. Grizedale's Ridding Wood trail is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Along this trail you will find some unusual ornate treats and several sculptures.

Pet friendly lake district cottages

A beloved pet is a large part of family life, so why should it be put in a kennel when the family go on holiday?

Sending a pet to a kennel whilst you are on holiday can be inconvenient should there not be a kennel local to where you live, expensive and many owners hate the thought of having to leave their dog or pet when they go away. Taking a dog abroad has its problems with quarantining etc but if the holiday is in the UK, why not take your pet? It is now far easier to take your pet away with you without compromising on the choice of holiday.

Tagged: ulverston, ulverston dickensian christmas festival

Ulverston’s Dickensian style two day festival attracts thousands of people each year. The Christmas festival is in its 13th year, and this year the festival takes place on the weekend of 26th and 27th November.

It is one of the most popular Dickensian style festivals in the country and gives locals and visitors the chance to experience the atmosphere of how life would be in a traditional market town in the 1850s. The Dickensian Festival is organised by a local committee of volunteers on a non-profit basis, relying on fund raising, sponsorships, grants and donations from local businesses. There is a real great community spirit with the local shop keepers getting into the spirit of the festival and wearing traditional period clothing. With Ulverston’s cobbled streets and ginnels, old worldy pubs and unique speciality shops, it only adds to the feeling of stepping back in time.
