PETER RABBIT EASTER EGG HUNT 2012

The great Peter Rabbit Easter egg hunt start on Thursday 5th April at 10:00am, and finishes once all the eggs have been found. This is one of the UKs largest Easter egg hunts and this year as it is Peter Rabbit's 110th Birthday there are 110 hand-crafted ceramic Easter eggs hidden throughout Cumbria. Each ceramic egg is a fantastic prize and not only allows the winner free entry in to The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, they will also receive a special edition Beatrix Potter book. There is also 10 BIG prizes to be won. If you are lucky enough to find an egg please let The World of Beatrix Potter know by telephoning 0844 504 1233 or by visiting the attraction in Bowness on Windermere.

Aira Force Waterfall Walk, Ullswater

Aira Force close to the shores of Lake Ullswater and Pooley Bridge, is the most famous waterfall in the Lake District. The waterfall drops an impressive 65ft, and can be reached by strolling through ancient woodland. If your lucky you may spot a red squirrel.

In the 1870s the Howard family of Graystoke Castle landscaped the area around the waterfall and used it as a pleasure garden, planting over half a million trees and forming a network of footpaths, tracks and bridges. The land is now owned by The National Trust.

Ullswater Beer and Music Festival

The 2012 Ullswater Beer and Music Festival is on the weekend of 18th and 19th May. The festival takes place in Patterdale at the Southern end of lake Ullswater, below Place Fell and Helvellyn.

What better way to unwind and quench your thirst after a good ramble than the chance to sample some of the 70 barrels of real ales, ciders and perrys, which have been specially selected for the festival from local Cumbrian breweries such as Keswick Brewery and Hesket Brewery, and also from neighbouring counties.

Ullswater Outdoor Festival 2011

Formarly known as the Ullswater Walking Festival this years event takes place from 24th September until 2nd October. Over the nine days there will be 20 guided walks around the stunning Ullswater valley with Lake District National Park Voluntary Rangers. Most of the walks are free, but should be booked in advance with Ullswater Tourist Information Centre 01768 482414. Some walks will also be dog friendly, and will cater for the hearing impared. Many of our self catering cottages in the Ullswater area are pet friendly, and pets go free.
